Final Preliminary Task!

Evaluation
All in all I feel our preliminary task went well. Obviously for a first go on the camera and editing software it was never going to be perfect and did come with a few points for improvement;

Firstly, I feel the background noise effects the piece in a bad way as it ruins the tension which is meant to be shown by contrasting between silence and heartbeat.

Secondly the camera was shaky, this is easier to fix as we can get a tripod for future filming and thus avoid this problem.

I did however really like our use of different angles in particular the one where it looks over my shoulder at Thom reaching the top of the steps, this gave the exact feeling we were going for, which was tension.

Location, Location, Location!
This location had everything we needed apart from a place for the car we originally planned to include in our piece. Instead of having the car we decided to use steps (bit of a drastic change we know) the reason we couldn't use the car is because of both Jake and myself having a busy weekend, so we decided stairs were the next big thing. We use the stairs as a metaphor, as the man rises up the steps the tension builds, therefore the audience are supposed to get more and more nervous the closer our man gets to the top.

Storyboard.
We chose this story-line because firstly we felt it made it available for us to use several different shots but also because we felt it would add tension to our piece to have these particular shots.

Preliminary Task Script

After a long sit down and chat me and Jake finally chose what we felt to be a sufficient script which contained as many ideas and techniques as possible for our Preliminary Task.

A mid-teen, nervous looking male is sat solitary on a park bench in broad daylight. The boy cannot stop fidgeting, he appears nervous.

The view switches to an over shoulder shot of a figure opening a door to head outside.

The view changes again to show the bottom of a staircase and we then see the mans feet as he goes up the stairs.

The shot changes back again to the boy on the bench looking around nervously

For the last time we see the mans feet as he progresses to the top of the staircase

The shot shows the boy on the bench side-on as we see the blurred figure of the man reach the top of the stairs. The boy sees the man and takes a deep breath.

The man proceeds to sit next to the boy whom finishes his deep breath.

The boy clears his throat and speaks

Boy: Have you got the stuff?

The man turns to him and smirks

The shot fades to black.
This is a list of ideas me and Jake had for our Preliminary task.
